Majlis Golf Course, Emirates Golf Club

The flagship course at Emirates Golf Club, The Majlis championship course is a challenging par 72, 7,301-yard layout. Designed by Florida-based course architect Karl Litten, the original 18 holes were built in and around the dunes of a beautiful site on the edge of the city of Dubai, donated by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on whose instructions the desert flora was maintained in its natural state.

The Majlis course has developed a worthy reputation worldwide as a testing layout for even the best golfers. The course features hundreds of indigenous species of flora and fauna, beautifully complemented by meandering fairways and seven fresh and saltwater lakes.

The course has consistently hosted the Dubai Desert Classic since the 1980's which has had some iconic names such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Colin Montgomerie crowned as Champions in the past.

The course really needs golfers to be able to shape the ball both ways as there are many holes with dog leg one way or the other. Again like many courses in Dubai there is a lot of water to keep you on your toes and the green complexes work into the waters edge meaning you have done extremely well should you complete your 18 holes without losing a ball.

Make sure you get your phone out when teeing off on what could possibly be the most famous tee shot in golf, the magical par 4 8th hole with the huge skyscrapers in the background, pick your building and trust your swing to hopefully find a sloping fairway. Enjoy a drink and food in the Majlis styled clubhouse after play, which has some of the best changing room facilities I have ever visited.
